  • What a Privledge to Own - 2008 Ford Shelby GT500

Just an overall great car. A bit pricey, but buying in February appears to make a considerable price difference. This car somewhat reminds me of the car in the movie "Christine" because it is capable of so many things. Most notably, the 500 horsepower will blow away just about anything. Most Corvettes dont even match up to the Shelby in terms of power. Corvette owners lining up next to a Shelby at a red light shouldnt even consider steppin on the pedal. Try that and youll be embarassed and left in the dust. Any person using the Shelby for ordinary, everyday travel should be shot.

  • Its all about value - 2008 Ford Shelby GT500

Having owned a 65 GT350 that was $4906 OTD it was obvious that value was not a concern as that was astronomical then. Fast forward 44 yrs. and being able to get this car for $40k is simply amazing for what it is. There is nothing made on 4 wheels that can compare for the $. Others may nit pick, build quality, mileage, or a miriad of other little things, but it all comes back to bang for the buck. I have an 07 Porsche Turbo that may, or may not be a tick quicker, handles better, and better build but is 3 of these. This car is definitely better and faster than my 65 was, but seeing restored 65s going for $300k its not in the cards. The economy has brought these cars down to $40k new, get 1.

  • Not what I expected - 2007 Ford Shelby GT500

Bought this car for a little over msrp. I have been lucky enough to own several true sports cars in my life from all the major brands. This car is a blast from 0 to 60. But when the new wears off, the interior looks just like Mustang GT and the build quality is not what it should be. I think the Shelby team should have spent a little more time on the interior and fit and finish to make this a 10 out of 10. Also Ford dealers are trying to charge way to much over msrp for this car.

This is a very quick car and is very much fun to drive. The car handles well and is good on gas if driven without flooring it. The workmanship is very good. I have not had any problems with mine, just a lot of fun. The car is hard to hook up in first or second gear but different tires could make the difference.

  • Go for It! - 2008 Ford Shelby GT500

Been driving fast cars since 1968, and figured this would be the last chance to get a real Shelby. It is an absolute blast! If I hear a complaint about this car I just figure its either somebody whos never driven one, or somebody who cant (or wont) get one. Very smooth to drive (I only burnt rubber by accident once) but nearly violent at hard acceleration. I used to drive the old Mustangs, and I like that they didnt make the insides all cushy. As is, its as cozy as youre going to get for a car that goes like this one. Exceeded my expectations in every way.

  • Horrible Value, Poor Workmanship - 2011 Ford Shelby GT500

I bought a brand new Shelby GT500 in December 2010. It was my dream car. However, four years later, that dream has become a nightmare. Everything is breaking on the car, which I rarely drive. The latest straw was the Clutch, which the dealership is saying is worn out. The vehicle only has 23K miles, and doesnt even need new tires! It has had one owner, and one driver(Me). Do not buy one of their vehicles (Ford). Buy an import instead, at least they are more reliable. I am broken hearted, and now just broke....

  • Love it! - 2010 Ford Shelby GT500

This is the best car I have ever owned. I have been shopping for a new sports car after selling my 2000 Saleen Speedster 6 months ago. I test drove a 2010 corvette grand sport, 2009 zo6, Nissan gtr, and a 2005 Dodge Viper. The GT500 beat all of them in every catagory. The corvettes and the Viper were out dated and way overpriced. The gtr was a cool car but $76k are you kidding. The performance of the GT500 was equal to the Z06 but so much more updated and advanced. Test drive them all for your self and you will see. One thing that about made me almost not buy this car though was the dealer would not let me test drive this car without making an offer.

I got my GT500 a few days ago and have driven it all of 45 miles so far. Im a big guy and I was worried that the Recaros might pinch, but they dont. Still getting used to the shifter/clutch and being very gentle with the loud pedal. Shifter has a fair amount of mechanical resistance. Ride is very stiff, even with the Bilsteins on the soft setting- havent played with the driver-assist controls yet. On the freeway, its just waking up at 75 mph.

I bought this car for my wife and traded in a 2004 350Z. All in all the Z was easier as a daily driver but we really dont drive this car often. Mash the gas and smile all the time. A fun car to drive but as others point out the interior needs more distinguishing characteristics compared to a GT. The dealer tried to add 15K to the MSRP based on it being a Shelby; dont pay it! It is an extremely nice car but please know folks that this is a suped up Cobra and the only thing common to Vegas modified Shelbys is the Shelby label on the back and badge.

Traded 98 cobra for this one and glad I did. Looks much better than the 07- 09 model. Hold on when you floor it. Did so with a friend who couldnt breath during takeoff.
